Manage Your Budgets

Manage budgets allocated to you by your org, for awarding and recognising your colleagues.

Budgets are blocks of monetary points allocated to employees (users), enabling them to award colleagues on Empuls. A user must have sufficient budget points to award or approve a nomination. The Empuls Super Admins create budget points and allocate them to various users in the organisation. Once users receive budget points, they can share them with other users or use them to give awards.

Personal Budget

All Empuls users have access to their Personal Budget. These points can be used across any award category, and the user can choose how to use them.

Once points are allocated to a user's budget, they become the owner of those points. Budget owners can then award their peers using these points or transfer them to others based on need and availability. Empuls ensures the democratic utilisation of budget points.

Custom Budgets

Custom Budgets are created for specific awards and used to give out awards to which they are linked. Empuls admins can create custom budgets, link specific awards to them, and then allocate the newly created budget to different individuals in the organisation. All budgets except General Purpose Budgets are categorised as 'Custom Budgets'.

Budget owners can then use points in the custom budget to give out awards linked to it by the admin. Once points in the custom budget are exhausted, users can no longer give out awards linked to that custom budget. This is how Empuls admins can control organisational spending on various award categories.

How do I view my budgets?

Step 1: Navigate to Recognitions > Reward Budgets.

This page displays all your owned budgets and their remaining points balance. From here, you can share points, request more from the admin, or create new budgets for your team.

Filter by Role
Use the role-based filtering feature to view budgets according to different user roles, ensuring transparency across the organization. You can filter by super admin, manager, or department head.

How to View Your Team’s Budgets in Empuls

To access team budget details, navigate to: Recognitions > Reward Budgets > My Team Budget Tab

The Team Budgets tab provides two essential reports that enhance visibility into budget allocation and usage. These reports help track available balances and spending across your team.

Viewing Reports

  1. Available Balance Report

  • Displays the remaining budget for each team member.

  • Helps monitor available funds at a glance.

  • Click the download icon to export the report.

2. Budget Utilization Report

  • Provides details on budget usage, including the closing balance.

  • Use the calendar icon to filter and select the date range.

  • Click the download icon to export the report.

Use the filter icon to refine the budget utilization report based on:

  • Budget name

  • Designation

  • Department

  • Location

  • Grade

  • Cost center

After selecting filters, click Apply to view the refined data.

Creating a Personal Budget

Navigate to Recognitions > Reward Budget and click on Create Budget.

What is a budget on Empuls?

Yes — use the role-based filter on the Reward Budgets page to view budgets by Super Admin, Manager, or Department Head. This helps maintain transparency across the organisation.

How do I view my team's budgets?

Navigate to Recognitions > Reward Budgets > My Team Budget tab. This tab provides two reports — the Available Balance Report (remaining budget per team member) and the Budget Utilisation Report (usage details including closing balance). Both reports can be exported using the download icon.

Can I filter the Budget Utilisation Report?

Yes — click the filter icon to refine the report by budget name, designation, department, location, grade, or cost centre. Select your filters and click Apply to view the refined data. Use the calendar icon to set a custom date range.

How do I create a Personal Budget?

Navigate to Recognitions > Reward Budget and click Create Budget. Follow the prompts to set up your budget.

What happens when a Custom Budget runs out?

Once the points in a Custom Budget are exhausted, users can no longer give out awards linked to that budget. Contact your Super Admin to request a top-up.

Can I transfer budget points to someone else?


Yes — budget owners can share or transfer points to other users based on need and availability. Go to Recognitions > Reward Budgets to manage transfers.
