Recognise your colleague’s efforts by giving them awards.

Recognition is how your organisation celebrates great work and reinforces its culture. Use Empuls to acknowledge colleagues in the moment — publicly, specifically, and meaningfully.

Before You Begin

You'll need an active, verified Empuls account. You can recognise peers, direct reports, and managers. Some organisations restrict certain recognition types — check with your administrator if you're unsure what's available to you.

Recognise your colleagues

Step 1: Navigate to the group where you want to share the recognition. Click Recognize in the feed box.

Step 2: Search for your colleague by name or email, or paste their email address directly into the search field. Click Next to continue.

💡 Smart Insights: You can view the number of nominations your colleague has received in the last quarter or six months directly from this screen.

Step 3: Select a Spot Award, Approval Award, or Core Value to recognise your colleague's achievement. Click on any award to learn more about its purpose before choosing. Once you've made your selection, click Next.


Step 4: Write a few words of praise in the message box. Your recognition will be shared publicly to reinforce a culture of appreciation across your organisation.

For the most impactful message, include:

  • What they did — describe the specific action or contribution

  • Why it mattered — explain the importance of their effort

  • The business impact — show how it made a difference to the team or organisation

Example: "Sarah's attention to detail in the project report caught critical errors before client delivery. Her thoroughness saved us from potential embarrassment and showed real care for the team."

💡 Tips: Be timely — recognise while the context is fresh. Be authentic — only recognise genuine contributions. Connect to company values where relevant.

Step 5: Click Improve with AI to enhance your message. You'll have four options:

  • Close the pop-up if you'd prefer not to use the AI-generated suggestion

  • Refresh to generate a new suggestion

  • Copy the AI-generated message and paste it into the input box manually

  • Replace to swap your manually written message with the AI suggestion automatically

Step 6: Preview how the recognition will appear in the feed on the right-hand side of the screen. Click Read More in the preview to see the full post before sharing.

Step 7: Click Share Recognition to post it.

View and Respond to Recognition You've Received

Step 1: Click your profile picture in the navigation bar.

Step 2: Select My Profile, scroll down to Recogntions to view all recognition you've received in chronological order.

Responding to recognition

Step 1: Click on a recognition to open the full message.

Step 2: Click thumbs up to like or select a reaction to respond to your colleague.

Step 3: Add a reply message to personalise your response.

Troubleshooting

1.I can't find a colleague

  • Check the spelling of their name and try searching by last name

  • Confirm they've completed their Empuls profile

  • Contact your administrator if they still don't appear

2. My recognition won't send

  • Make sure the message field isn't blank

  • Check your internet connection and try again

3. I can't see the recognition I sent

  • Refresh the page and check the Sent section

  • It may be pending approval if your organisation requires it

  • Contact support at [email protected] if it's still missing

4. My points haven't been credited

  • Wait up to 24 hours for points to appear

  • Check the leaderboard to verify your activity

  • Contact support if points are still missing after 24 hours

  • Be specific — describe exactly what the person did and why it mattered

  • Be timely — recognise in the moment while the context is fresh

  • Be authentic — only recognise genuine contributions

  • Connect to values — link recognition to company values where relevant

  • Include business impact — show how their work made a difference

  • Recognise in all directions — peers, direct reports, and managers all deserve recognition

FAQ's: Appreciate Your Colleagues

How can I recognize a colleague for their efforts?

Go to the group where you want to post the recognition. In the feed box, click on Recognize, then follow the steps to select a colleague, choose an award, and write your message.

What types of awards can I choose from?

You can choose from Spot Awards, Approval-Based Awards, or Core Values. Click on each award type to learn more about its purpose before selecting one.

Do I have to write the recognition message myself?

Not necessarily. After writing a few words, you can enable the AI Improvement feature, which helps you generate or enhance your message.

Can I preview how the recognition will look?

Yes, a live preview appears on the right side of the screen.

What happens after I click “Share Recognition”?

Your message is posted publicly in the group feed, and your colleague gets notified instantly. It’s a simple way to make someone’s day!
