How to Read Your Skill Report

Empuls AI maps soft skills across four main categories.

Use the tabs within the Soft skills exhibited in award messages card to switch between them.

  • Communications: This category reflects how well individuals or teams express ideas, share information, and engage others. A high score here indicates strong verbal and written communication abilities observed across recognition messages.

  • Interpersonal Skills: This category captures relationship-building behaviours — empathy, collaboration, and the ability to work effectively with others. Look for this when assessing team cohesion or identifying strong collaborators for cross-functional projects.

  • Critical Thinking: This category highlights problem-solving, analytical reasoning, and the ability to evaluate situations thoughtfully. Strong scores here can indicate readiness for roles that require independent decision-making or complex analysis.

  • Leadership: This category surfaces leadership indicators such as initiative, influence, and the ability to guide others. Use this to identify potential leaders for internal mobility, succession planning, or mentoring responsibilities.

Each category is broken down into specific criteria, giving you a detailed view of your team's skillset — not just a broad score. When reviewing a profile, look for:

  • High-performing areas — skills consistently reflected in recognition messages, indicating established strengths.

  • Absent scores — potential skill gaps that could inform learning paths or development conversations.

Things to Keep in Mind

  • Skill Mapping is based on recognition data — the more actively your team gives and receives recognition, the richer the insights.

  • Review your core values and award structure regularly to ensure they are set up in a way that generates meaningful skill signals.
